I just started juicing and I’m actually surprised that I like it! I’m sharing a couple of recipes that I’ve put together. I purchased an inexpensive Breville juicer ($99) because I wasn’t sure the idea would ever get off the ground. I really wanted Bob to get into it, because I’d heard that juicing can reduce cholesterol levels as well as having lots of other health benefits, but so far, I’m the only one who will go near the machine.
One of my former students has made a career of raw foods and has become a spokesperson for the lifestyle. Check him out here: http://rawfoodformylife.com/. His name is Bill Barlow. Bill has actually developed a superfood that you can add to your juice to make it a complete meal. I’m waiting for my first bottle to arrive as I write this!
Here are the recipes in case you want to try them.
1 orange or 2 Clementines
3 strawberries or some blueberries
¼ red cabbage
4 stalks celery
2 handfuls spinach
Sauerkraut and/or juice from sauerkraut
5 oz. baby spinach leaves
2 apples , cored (seeds are toxic)
2 celery sticks
½” piece of ginger
Pour over ice
